I WILL NEVER COMPLAIN HEREAFTER...
''Oh Umme! What is this? Always Dhal! I really hate this curry now! Why
can't you prepare some other curries than this?'', Salma almost yelled
at her Mum, Fathima. Fathima was struggling to answer. ''Why can't she
understand what I am telling?'', her already ached heart whispered. ''I
make other curries too, don't I dear? But I often prepare this as it
contains lots of nutrients that are
needed for a growing youth like you. Why don't you stop complaining and
thank Allah for giving you provisions that are more than enough for you
to have?'', Fathima told her daughter in a breath and left the place
without waiting for another word.
Salma stared at the
Kitchen's doorway, seeing her Mother leaving. ''I won't eat today'', she
swore to herself and stood on her feet from the mat to leave. Suddenly
she heard the bang of the bell yelling continously. ''Who the damn is
that?'', she shouted which doubled the volumes of anger in her mind. She
paced hastily towards the front door and was struck into seeing a
middle aged lady with an almost five year old child. ''Huh!'' she hissed
and went to the hall in search of money. There was a ten rupee note
left on the hall table and she picked it up and returned back to the
front door. While she was handing over the note to the lady, her little
skinny girl moved a step forward and voiced, ''Can we have sometìng to
eat? We didn't have anything except water since three days.''
Hearing the little girl's words, Salma's eyes began to fill with tears.
Her rigid heart thawed and she ran to the Kitchen to get the contents in
the plate which she left untouched. It didn't take much time for her to
pack it with a lunch sheet and to wrap it up with a paper. She rushed
to the front door snatching the neatly packed parcel and handed it over
to them. The little girl grinned at her and her mother thanked her with a
beautiful smile. ''Insha Allah, I will never complain hereafter'',
Salma vowed herself and ran in search of her mother to apologise for
hurting her and disparaging about the blessings which she is been
endowed with.
